Central Motorways ‘Spaghetti Junction’ Auckland

INTRODUCTION

The realignment and expansion of motorway links in Auckland City’s Central Motorway Junction – fondly known as ‘Spaghetti Junction’ – was acclaimed as Transit NZ’s biggest and most complex project. We provided programming, monitoring and reporting services to 'Complete'.

The contractor was 'Complete', a joint venture or Fletcher Construction and Leighton Contractors.

There are four major viaducts (Bridges):

  • North to Port
  • Northbound off ramp
  • widened and refurbished South to North
  • Port and West to North.

The old Northbound off ramp at Nelson Street is now the pink cycleway. The original alignment of the off ramp did not suit the new arrangement.
