Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild

INTRODUCTION

After the earthquake in 2011 we were commissioned by Christchurch City Council to prepare a proposed programme of works to reconstruct the city’s infrastructure (including the damaged drainage system including treatment works, water supply systems, power and telecommunication utilities and finally the roading and footpaths).

We proposed splitting the estimated $2 billion rebuild into 200 smaller packages which could be staged over a five year period. We estimated the project would need upwards of 50 drainage crews over the five year period. Our report became the blueprint for the set-up of the SCIRT alliance (Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team) to carry out the actual work.
